Medication management · RN-managed
Digital MAR charts. Zero paper.
Medication is not a form the carer fills in. It is a module the registered nurse manages from inside the AVA platform: prescriptions captured into a master file, scheduled rounds generated from them, and every dose recorded on the mobile app by the carer who gave it.
- Medication master file. A facility-wide list of medications with codes. Each resident's prescription is built from it, or a new medication is added to it, with dose, unit, pills per dose, frequency, route, administration times and instructions.
- Prescriptions captured and verified by the RN. Scripts are uploaded as received from the doctor, typically six-monthly, and captured into the resident's prescription by the registered nurse. Exactly as prescribed, verified by a nurse.
- Automated renewal notifications. The platform tracks each script's validity and notifies the RN before it expires, so renewals are requested in time.
- Administer as scheduled. Day and night rounds list every resident with active medications. Each dose is recorded as Given Pending Refused or Held, with who gave it and when.
- PRN and non-prescribed medication. Given on demand from the master list, with a mandatory reason for administration and notes, so every Panado is accounted for.
- Online signature and history. Every administration is signed electronically, attributed and timestamped. Any day's record can be opened by date.

How a prescription flows
Script received
The doctor's prescription arrives and is uploaded to the resident's file. The RN captures each medication into the prescription from the master list: dose, unit, pills per dose, frequency, route, times and instructions.
RN confirms and signs
The registered nurse checks the entries and signs electronically. From here the medication appears on every scheduled round, at the right times, for the right shift.
Administered on the round
Day and night shift work from the administer list on the mobile app. Each dose is recorded as given, refused or held, with the carer's name and the exact time.
Renewal before expiry
Six months on, the platform notifies the RN ahead of expiry. The renewed script is uploaded, the prescription updated, and the full history kept.
Built from the master list
Add a medication from the facility master list (each with its own code) or add a new one. Set dosage and unit, pills per dose, frequency (once daily, twice daily, at bedtime, as needed), route, administration times and instructions such as "take with food".
Nothing given off the record
For an Allergex or a Panado, the carer searches the master list, enters dosage and route, and must give a reason for administration before it can be recorded. Notes are optional; the reason is not.
Any day, any dose, who and when
Open a resident's administration record for any date. Every dose shows its status, the carer who gave it and the time, refused or held with the reason. The record an inspector, a GP or a family asks for is already there.
Vitals monitoring
Every reading, trended and watched.
Blood pressure, temperature, glucose, SpO2 and weight captured at the bedside, charted over time, and watched by AVA's three-tier alert system.
