We are on a mission to modernise old age home, frail care and dementia care management, in South Africa and beyond, with technology that puts residents first. We did not start with a product. We started with a ward.
Our story
From frustration to innovation.
EzeHealth was founded with a clear purpose: to bridge the gap between outdated, paper-based systems and the modern technology that care homes deserve. We saw first-hand how frail care facilities, dementia care homes and retirement villages struggled with manual record-keeping, disconnected processes and a lack of tools designed for their specific needs.
Too many care homes were relying on spreadsheets, paper folders and fragmented systems that wasted time, introduced errors and ultimately affected resident care. Running a dementia care facility on paper was unsustainable. Carers spent more time writing notes than caring for residents.
So we built the platform we needed ourselves, inside Jura Care Village in George, and refined it on live night shifts before offering it to anyone else. Today our team documents a full shift in half the time, and AVA catches patterns nobody would see on paper.

EzeHealth was built and proven inside a South African care home, against South Africa's norms and standards for residential facilities, the Older Persons Act and POPIA. That is where the depth comes from: real inspections, real handovers, real night shifts.
But nothing in the platform is hard-wired to one country. Every installation is configured for the home it serves: the forms and registers your regulator expects, the care levels and room types you run, the privacy law you answer to, the currency you bill in and the languages your team speaks. The same structured bedside data feeds the same modules and the same AI nurse, wherever the home is.
Most international platforms are designed for hospitals and clinics and then stretched to fit residential care. EzeHealth started in a care home, and adapts outward from there.
Configured per installation
- Norms and standards. Registers, assessments and care-plan cycles matched to your country's residential-care regulations.
- Legislation and inspections. Reports and audit trails shaped to what your inspectors ask for.
- Clinical forms. The 12 bedside forms are a starting point; fields, categories and RN-approval routing are set per home.
- Privacy law. POPIA in South Africa; configurable for other data-protection regimes, with hosting in your region where required.
- Currency and billing. Rand by default; other currencies and billing structures on request.
- Languages. English and Afrikaans natively; additional languages configurable for forms and AVA.

EzeHealth is a product of EzeMind AI, a technology company founded by Johan van Niekerk, Founder and CEO, to develop practical artificial intelligence solutions for South African businesses and organisations.
The idea for EzeHealth began with a need identified by Johan van Niekerk and Marlene van Niekerk, Managing Director and Owner, of Jura Care Village in George. Through their direct involvement in operating a care home, they recognised the challenge of balancing quality, person-centred care with the substantial administrative work required to support it.
Care records, staff handovers, reporting and everyday documentation all serve an important purpose. But when information is scattered and tasks are repeated, administration can take valuable time away from residents and place additional pressure on care teams.
EzeHealth was developed by EzeMind AI in response to that real-world need. It brings together the practical care-home experience of Johan and Marlene with EzeMind AI's technology development capabilities, with a clear objective: make the administration behind care simpler, more organised and less time-consuming.
Our connection to care is personal and operational, not simply technical. We understand that a solution must work for the people using it every day, fit into established routines and support the responsibilities that come with looking after vulnerable people. Technology should strengthen the human side of care, not become another burden on staff.
That same philosophy guides EzeMind AI's broader approach: start with a genuine operational problem, understand the people and processes involved, and build technology that serves a useful purpose.
We do not just build technology for care homes. We run a care home ourselves. EzeHealth was born from that experience, and from the belief that more time should be available for the people who need care.
